Chimney Chase Pans & Decorative Shrouds

It isn't rare for chimneys to get framed with hardwood.  Since they appear to be masonry by their exteriors, they sometimes are wrongly identified as real masonry chimneys. These chimneys use a distinct type of cover altogether. The bottom part is called a Metal Chimney Rain Pan. It appears like an upside down cake pan & covers the top of the chimney to prevent rainwater from getting inside. Decorative shrouds are often installed to enhance the visual appeal of the chimney top.
